Iowa Fines Company for Pollution
REINBECK, Iowa — A company that makes hunting targets has been fined $45,000 for violating air pollution control standards at its plant in Reinbeck.
The Garrett Corporation, which does business as Delta Industries Ltd., or Delta Sports, was named in a lawsuit filed by the Iowa attorney general’s office last week.
The lawsuit claimed the company exceeded its operation limits for paint materials from April to October 2006, built new paint booths without required construction permits and constructed an emission point contrary to plans approved in construction permits.
The lawsuit also claimed the company failed to maintain records of paint usage.
The attorney general’s office said an inspection by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources determined the violations have since been corrected.
